J is for June

This watercolor is for my niece June. 5"x7"

a little art this month - 3 year hiatus….

There is a running trail near my home that has a burrowing owl habitat where several owls live. These little creatures make me laugh and I marvel every time I see them stare at me with their cunning little eyes. As I run by it is as if I step one toe closer to their home they will clamp onto my ankle and not let go. I like how protective and serious they are. They are typically brown and white but I like to imagine them full of color. Watercolor. Approx 5"x7"

this month's art - August

Yes, it has been over a YEAR since I have posted on this blog. Hope to post more soon.
11"x14", acrylic on canvas. I was inspired by a painting I saw online that was full of triangles but with purples and blues.

Greek Pasta Salad

Dave and I made this amazing pasta salad the other day. I think I got this recipe off of allrecipes.com -- I can't remember for sure. But, it was very good. The kalamata olives are a must!

potato gnocchi

September's issue of Everyday Food has a really easy and good recipe for gnocchi. The kids helped me make it the other day. They had a lot of fun making "snakes" with the dough then cutting them up to make little gnocchis.

market skirt

I tried out this great tutorial over at dana-made-it.com. The directions are easy to follow and very user friendly. So far I've made one for Hazel and this one is on it's way to my niece June.

batik pillows

5.29.10 - My brother and sister-in-law brought back some cool batik fabric from Ghana when they were serving in the Peace Corps. It has been sitting in my fabric box for a couple of years...I just didn't know what to do with it. I found some great down pillow forms and decided to add a little color to my drab family room.
